U.S. Military Drone Captures Hamas Operatives Looting Humanitarian Aid Truck in Gaza
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has strongly condemned Hamas after U.S. military surveillance footage showed suspected operatives of the terror group attacking the driver of an aid truck and stealing the vehicle with its humanitarian supplies intended for civilians in Gaza.
The drone video, released by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), captures the Friday incident in which armed individuals assaulted the truck driver, dragged him to the road’s median, and fled with both the vehicle and its cargo. The current condition of the driver remains unknown.
“Hamas continues to deprive the people of Gaza of the humanitarian aid they desperately need,” Rubio wrote on social media. “This theft undermines international efforts in support of President Trump’s 20 Point Plan to deliver critical assistance to innocent civilians.”
Rubio characterized Hamas as “the impediment” to relief efforts, accusing the group of deliberately blocking humanitarian assistance. “They must lay down their arms and stop their looting so that Gaza can have a brighter future,” he added.
According to CENTCOM, the truck was part of a humanitarian convoy transporting essential supplies from international partners to Gazans in northern Khan Younis. The incident was recorded by an MQ-9 drone operated by the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), which has been monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
The CMCC, established on October 17 in southern Israel, serves as the central hub for Gaza stabilization efforts. The center features an operations floor designed to track real-time developments inside Gaza and coordinates humanitarian, logistical, and security assistance from nearly 40 nations and international organizations.
“Over the past week, international partners have delivered more than 600 trucks of commercial goods and aid into Gaza daily,” CENTCOM stated. “This incident undermines these efforts.”
The looting incident comes at a critical juncture in the conflict. President Trump recently issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Hamas demanding the return of all deceased Gaza hostages, warning that “other countries will take action” if the deadline is not met.
This is not the first report of aid theft in Gaza. Data published in August by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) revealed that a significant portion of humanitarian aid entering Gaza had been looted inside Palestinian territory. Security analysts have long warned that aid theft by terror groups and regimes can prolong global conflicts by redirecting resources intended for civilian relief.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with international organizations struggling to deliver consistent assistance amid security challenges and reported interference. The CMCC’s establishment represented a significant step toward improving aid coordination, but incidents like Friday’s looting demonstrate the persistent obstacles to delivering humanitarian relief in the conflict zone.
The video evidence of aid theft comes amid broader concerns about ensuring humanitarian supplies reach their intended recipients rather than being diverted by armed groups. International partners have been working to increase the daily flow of aid trucks into Gaza, but such security incidents threaten to undermine those efforts.
As the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas remains fragile, with occasional violations reported, the international community continues to push for both sustained humanitarian access and a lasting resolution to the conflict that has devastated the region.
