Iranian Man and Romanian Woman Charged with Attempted Entry into UK Nuclear Missile Base

An Iranian man and a Romanian woman have been charged after attempting to enter a high-security nuclear missile base in Scotland, according to an announcement by Police Scotland on Saturday.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Thursday when authorities were alerted to “two people attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde,” commonly known as Faslane. The suspects—a 34-year-old Iranian man and a 31-year-old Romanian woman—were subsequently arrested and charged. They are scheduled to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday, March 23, as investigations continue.

According to reports from the Telegraph newspaper, citing the Times, the suspects were initially turned away from the naval base because they lacked proper authorization. They were later arrested nearby for allegedly “acting suspiciously in the vicinity” of the facility.

HM Naval Base Clyde is a critical military installation for the United Kingdom’s defense infrastructure. The Royal Navy designates it as home “to the core of the Submarine Service, including the nation’s nuclear deterrent, and the new generation of hunter-killer submarines.” The base represents a vital component of Britain’s national security apparatus and its nuclear capabilities.
