Police Uncover Warehouse Filled with Nazi Propaganda in Granada Town

Spanish and German authorities conducted a joint operation on Wednesday at an industrial warehouse in Alhama, Granada province, as part of an investigation into alleged Nazi-related hate crimes. The operation was carried out under a European investigation order requested by a German court.

Approximately 50 Guardia Civil officers, alongside four German Polizei members, descended on the facility, which appeared to house a printing operation. The warehouse, which still bears signage from its previous use as a drinks storage facility, contained various printing equipment, including machinery for producing posters, paper materials, banners, and embroidery. Sources indicate a 3D printer may have also been on the premises.

During the raid, officers were observed entering and exiting the building throughout the morning. From outside, various items with Nazi symbolism were visible within the warehouse, including flags bearing Nazi symbols, Nazi helmets, and numerous packed boxes. Surfboards and posters with similar Nazi-themed imagery were also reportedly identified inside the facility.

The German penal code explicitly criminalizes glorification of Nazism as a form of incitement to racial hatred, with potential prison sentences of up to three years. While Spain does not have identical legislation specifically targeting Nazi glorification, Spanish law does recognize hate crimes more broadly.

The plainclothes officers participating in the operation were part of the Guardia Civil’s information group, a specialized unit that typically handles sensitive investigations related to hate crimes and terrorism. The German authorities’ involvement underscores the cross-border nature of the investigation, highlighting increased European cooperation in addressing extremism.

A German woman, apparently connected to the printing business, was present during the search but required a translator to communicate with officers, suggesting she may not have been fluent in Spanish. Despite the significant police presence and the confiscation of printed materials allegedly promoting Nazi ideology, no arrests had been reported at the time of writing.

Investigators removed several boxes containing printed materials allegedly advocating for the Nazi movement, though countless other boxes filled with unspecified objects remained sealed inside the warehouse. The Guardia Civil has not released official information regarding the operation, maintaining a tight lid on the investigation’s details.

This raid comes amid growing concerns across Europe about the resurgence of far-right extremism and neo-Nazi movements. In recent years, European authorities have intensified efforts to combat the spread of extremist ideologies, particularly through online channels and printed propaganda materials.
