Treasure Hunt in Paradise: Tracking Down Lost Comic Volumes in The Outer Worlds 2
A challenging treasure hunt awaits players in The Outer Worlds 2, as the “In Pursuit of Purloined Propaganda” side quest sends adventurers across Paradise Island in search of missing Science Adventures Quarterly comic volumes. These collectibles, scattered in hidden corners of the map, offer substantial rewards that make the search worthwhile for completionists and casual players alike.
Redactor Quesnel, the quest giver, can be found west of Fairfield near the Ministry of Accuracy. Players following the main storyline quests from Milverstreet or Kaur will likely encounter her naturally. While the comic volumes can be collected in any order, returning them to Quesnel unlocks increasingly valuable rewards.
The first comic return grants the Serial Dabbler perk, which reduces Companion ability charge time by 5%, along with 500 Bits and XP. Finding four more volumes upgrades this to the Serial Enthusiast perk (10% reduction) plus a Josephus Fielder Pitchball card that provides a 1% damage bonus. Completing the collection with the final five volumes grants the Serial Fanatic perk (15% reduction), Townie Clothing, and significant XP.
Players concerned about missing the opportunity to complete this quest should note that it remains available regardless of choices made during the “Saboteur of Paradise” quest, including the pivotal decision between Fairfield and Westport. The comic hunt can be finished even after leaving Paradise Island.
Comic Volume Locations
Volume 1 can be found on a bed in one of three clustered houses northwest of central Westport. Players should use the Westport fast travel point and head toward the flooded area, where they’ll find the volume in the middle house on a small hill.
Volume 2 is located on the southern edge of the map, sitting on a small table on the front porch of a fishing shack.
Volume 3 waits just outside a derelict fishing shack with broken front doors along the west coast, north of the Ministry of Accuracy.
Volume 4 requires traveling to the north island. From the Vox Relay fast travel point, players should head east into a small Protectorate facility, take the lift down the cliff, then follow the path toward the coast to find a fishing shack. The comic sits on a small table opposite the shack.
Volume 5 is housed inside the central building of a Protectorate settlement northwest of Fairfield and northeast of the Ministry of Accuracy.
Volume 6 can be found inside a fishing shack northeast of the landing pad and southeast of Fairfield. Players using the Fairfield fast travel point can quickly reach this location and spot the comic on a bed beside a janitor mech.
Volume 7 is located on the north island inside a small white house in the Protectorate farm west of the Vox Relay.
Volume 8 requires climbing to the top of a crabbing tower southwest of the Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove fast travel point. Players with Lockpick 3 skills can access a bonus room containing 300 Bits, a Light Revolver, and a Peacekeeper Helmet on their way up.
Volume 9 presents a more challenging hunt, requiring players to follow an unmarked dirt path surrounded by red and orange-leaved trees from the Spire Grove fast travel point. The comic rests on a bed inside a small hilltop building accessible either by using Engineering 1 skill, the Brawny Trait to force the door, or by finding the unlocked back entrance. Players should prepare for Raptidon attacks in this area.
Volume 10 is found on the northern coast of the north island, sitting on a small table just beyond the counter of a fishing shack northwest of the farm where Volume 7 is located.
The scattered placement of these comics encourages thorough exploration of Paradise Island’s diverse environments. While many are tucked away in non-mission-critical areas, the combination of valuable perks and experience points makes this collection quest a rewarding endeavor for players willing to venture off the beaten path.
This side quest joins other notable Paradise Island activities including the “Schemes of the Secret Smugglers” quest at the Fairfield greenhouse and the “Diabolic Drones of Doom” bounty, giving players plenty of content to discover beyond the main storyline.
