In a remarkable box office surge, “Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge” continues to captivate audiences nationwide since its March 19 premiere, with industry veterans now joining the chorus of praise. The spy action thriller, which has already surpassed Rs 300 crore globally, has become the center of both acclaim and controversy.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has emerged as one of the film’s most vocal supporters, addressing accusations that the movie serves as propaganda. In a passionate Instagram video, Kher expressed his frustration with critics who have attempted to label “Dhurandhar 2” alongside other films like “Kashmir Files” and the first “Dhurandhar” installment as propaganda pieces.

“I feel a deep sadness and pity for those who label the film as propaganda,” Kher stated. “Initially, I was angered by these attempts. They should be ashamed to call it that. If you cannot appreciate such a film, then create one yourself. It portrays modern India, beyond the film’s dramatic elements.”

The actor described the film as an experience that transcends conventional viewing, noting that it leaves a lasting impression that lingers long after the credits roll. “It’s not merely a film to watch; it’s an experience to be felt and absorbed,” he wrote. “The narrative unfolds in a manner that subtly resonates with viewers, remaining with them even after the credits roll.”

Kher praised director Aditya Dhar, referring to him as a “Rock Star” for his visionary approach to the material. He also highlighted Sanjay Dutt’s performance as SP Chaudhary Aslam, describing it as “stellar” and adding “significant depth to the story.”

“This is a film that resonates with pride and connection,” Kher concluded in his note. “It’s a must-watch, an experience to cherish, and a subject for reflection. Jai Hind.”

The film’s lead actor, Ranveer Singh, responded to Kher’s praise with humility and gratitude. “Words fall short after seeing this, Sir. I have grown inspired by your artistry. Your words mean a great deal to me. I bow to you, Sir,” Singh commented on Kher’s post.

Actor Rakesh Bedi, who portrays Jameel Jamali in the film, also acknowledged Kher’s review, calling it “an honest and lengthy response.”

“Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge,” produced by Aditya Dhar and Jyoti Deshpande under B62 Studios and Jio Studios, continues the narrative from the first installment, delving deeper into Ranveer Singh’s character while revealing his true identity as Jaskirat Singh Rangi.

The film features an ensemble cast that includes Arjun Rampal as ISI Major Iqbal, R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, Sanjay Dutt as SP Choudhary, along with Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in pivotal roles.

The commercial success of “Dhurandhar 2” has been nothing short of phenomenal. The film opened with a staggering Rs 100 crore on its first day and has accumulated Rs 278 crore in the Indian market alone. Its global earnings crossed the Rs 300 crore mark within just three days of release, establishing it as one of the year’s biggest blockbusters.

Industry analysts attribute the film’s success to strong word-of-mouth promotion, compelling action sequences, memorable dialogues, and a soundtrack that has resonated with audiences. The film appears to be benefiting from a combination of star power and nationalist themes that have struck a chord with viewers across India.

As “Dhurandhar 2” continues its theatrical run, the debate around its content and messaging is likely to persist, highlighting the increasingly complex relationship between entertainment, politics, and cultural representation in contemporary Indian cinema.
