US Strikes Key Iranian Oil Hub, Targets ‘Obliterated,’ Trump Says

President Trump announced Friday that the United States conducted a significant bombing operation targeting military installations on Iran’s Kharg Island, a crucial hub for the country’s oil exports in the Persian Gulf.

“Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

In his statement, the president emphasized that while U.S. forces targeted military infrastructure, they deliberately avoided striking the island’s oil facilities. “Our Weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the World has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island,” Trump stated.

The president also issued a clear warning that this restraint could change if Iran interferes with maritime traffic in the region: “However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision.”

Kharg Island represents one of Iran’s most strategically significant assets. Located approximately 25 kilometers off Iran’s southern coastline in the Persian Gulf, the island serves as the primary terminal for the majority of Iran’s crude oil exports, making it vital to the country’s economy.
