Turning Point USA to Match Federal Contributions to “Trump Accounts” for Employees

Turning Point USA and Turning Point Action, two organizations founded by the late Charlie Kirk, announced Wednesday they will match the federal government’s $1,000 contribution to Trump Accounts for their employees’ newborn children, doubling the financial head start for these families.

Erika Kirk, CEO of the conservative advocacy organization, made the announcement via social media, explaining that the initiative will honor her late husband’s legacy through a “company-sponsored dollar-for-dollar” match.

“Charlie spoke so often about the importance of young families and having children, and his face would light up every time he learned about a Turning Point employee welcoming a newborn into their family,” she wrote on X. “We’re proud to stand with @POTUS in supporting families and investing in the future of America.”

The Trump Accounts program, a key component of the recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, is scheduled to launch on July 4. The program creates a financial foundation for the next generation by providing $1,000 from the U.S. Treasury to every American child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028.

These funds will be invested in the stock market by private investment firms, with the capital and gains becoming accessible when the child turns 18. The program represents a significant shift in how the government approaches financial planning for future generations.

“For the first time ever, we’re going to give every newborn American child a financial stake in the future, a head start in life and a fair shot at the American dream,” President Donald Trump said at a Treasury Department event on Wednesday.

The program allows authorized adults—including parents, guardians, adult siblings, or grandparents—to establish accounts for eligible children with a valid Social Security number. The accounts can receive additional contributions of up to $5,000 annually, without requiring the contributor to have a Social Security number.

During the Treasury Department event, President Trump specifically called on employers nationwide to follow this model by matching these contributions, suggesting that the Turning Point organizations may be early adopters of what the administration hopes will become a widespread corporate practice.

The matching initiative from Turning Point USA comes at a time when the organization is navigating its future following the death of its influential founder. Charlie Kirk established the organization in 2012, and it has since grown into one of the most prominent conservative youth advocacy groups in the country, with a significant presence on college campuses.

Financial experts note that the power of these accounts lies in the compounding growth over 18 years. If invested in a broad market index fund with an average annual return of 7-10%, the initial $2,000 contribution for Turning Point employees’ children (including both the federal and organizational contributions) could potentially grow to between $6,000 and $10,000 by the time the child reaches adulthood.

“Every president in modern history has left our children with nothing but debt,” Trump remarked during the announcement. “But under this administration, we’re going to leave every child with real assets and a shot at financial freedom.”

The announcement signals growing momentum for the program as it approaches its July launch. Several major corporations and business leaders have already expressed support, including Dell founder Michael Dell, who recently described the program as the “smartest investment” in children’s futures.

As more organizations consider matching the federal contribution, the Trump Accounts program may become a significant element of employee benefits packages and family financial planning in the coming years.
