Texas Attorney General’s Office Arrest: Suspect Found with Ammunition After Disturbance

A suspect carrying ammunition was arrested outside GOP Senate candidate Ken Paxton’s Dallas headquarters Tuesday evening, creating a brief security scare that was later resolved when investigators determined the individual was making a legitimate delivery to an employee.

Dallas police responded to reports of a “suspicious individual” in the 3000 block of Fairmount Street around 5:15 p.m., just before polls closed on Texas’ primary election day. Officers observed the suspect entering a vehicle without properly displayed license plates. After conducting a traffic stop, the driver was initially arrested for traffic violations before officers discovered ammunition inside the vehicle.

Video footage of the incident showed police placing ammunition on the hood of a car during their search and the handcuffed suspect. Following questioning, authorities concluded the individual posed no threat and was at the location for legitimate business purposes. The suspect was transported to Dallas County Jail without further incident.

The arrest occurred amid heightened security concerns in Texas, following what officials are investigating as a terror-related mass shooting outside an Austin bar. In that unrelated incident, the shooter reportedly possessed an Iranian flag and wore clothing with religious messaging.

Paxton, currently Texas’ Attorney General, is challenging longtime incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn, who has represented Texas in the Senate since 2002. Rep.
