Congressional candidate Bobby Pulido’s social media history raises questions as campaign progresses
Award-winning Tejano musician Bobby Pulido, now running for U.S. Congress, faces scrutiny over a digital history containing references to explicit material that remains visible on his social media platforms despite his political aspirations.
Between 2013 and 2024, Pulido has maintained a variety of posts linking to or referencing pornographic websites. In 2013, he advised followers to visit YouPorn “if bored” and shared links to pornographic sites that featured music from fellow artists, questioning whether they received royalties for such usage. That same year, he posted a link to another adult content site with the caption “homemade porn while sleep-deprived?”
Pulido’s casual approach to such content continued in subsequent years. In 2014, he stated on X (formerly Twitter), “It’s impossible to have Twitter and not watch porn.” In 2016, following apparent concerns about a pornographic website shutdown, he reassured followers that “there are other free sites,” jokingly adding, “I mean, that’s what they’ve told me. #you’rewelcome.”
While Pulido claimed his account was hacked after posting a link to YouPorn in 2015, many of his explicit references remain publicly accessible despite efforts to clean up his profile for his congressional campaign.
The Democratic candidate is attempting to unseat Republican Rep. Monica De La Cruz in Texas’s 15th Congressional District. This race is expected to be one of the more competitive opportunities for Democrats in Texas following redistricting that is projected to eliminate five Democratic seats. Though the district still leans Republican, recent boundary changes have put it more within Democratic reach. De La Cruz previously won the district in 2024 with 57.1% of the vote against Democratic nominee Michelle Vallejo.
According to Politico, Democratic leadership actively recruited Pulido to run for the seat, seeing potential in his name recognition and appeal to voters in South Texas.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has seized on Pulido’s social media history, with spokesperson Reilley Richardson telling Fox News Digital: “Radical Bobby Pulido is unhinged and unfit to serve in Congress.” The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee did not respond to requests for comment about Pulido’s online history.
Pulido has built his reputation as a Tejano musician, known for folk-style songs like “Desvelado” and “Se Murió de Amor.” His musical achievements include five Latin Grammy Award nominations and wins for Best Tejano Album in both 2022 and 2025.
Since launching his congressional campaign, Pulido has attempted to present himself as a bipartisan candidate with strong family values. His campaign launch video emphasized his South Texas roots: “You may know me as Bobby Pulido the singer. I am José Roberto Pulido Jr., the son of a migrant farmworker and 100% South Texas Tejano. Let me tell you. I won’t stand by and watch the South Texas that raised me be torn down and divided.”
While Pulido has removed some controversial content from his profiles—including a photo of himself defacing former President Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star—many references to pornographic content remain visible. As recently as 2024, he posted an image of a fan in a revealing position at one of his concerts, which previously generated backlash when initially shared.
Despite multiple requests from Fox News Digital, Pulido’s campaign has not provided comment on these social media posts or their potential impact on his congressional bid.
