Vice President JD Vance has expressed his belief that what many people refer to as aliens or UFOs may actually be “demons,” offering a religious interpretation of unexplained aerial phenomena based on his Catholic faith.

During a recent interview with conservative commentator Benny Johnson, Vance was asked about the release of UFO files, to which he responded, “Ah, we’re workin’ on it.” The Vice President admitted that while he was initially “obsessed with the UFO files” upon taking office, other pressing matters have occupied his attention. Nevertheless, he assured Johnson that he intends to “get to the bottom” of the mystery.

When pressed on his personal views, Vance stated plainly: “I don’t think they’re aliens. I think they’re demons anyway.” He later elaborated on this perspective, explaining his religious framework for understanding unexplained phenomena.

“I think that celestial beings who fly around, who do weird things to people — I think that the desire to describe everything celestial… to describe it as aliens — I mean every great world religion, including Christianity, the one that I believe in, has understood that there are weird things out there, and there are things that are very difficult to explain,” Vance said.

The Vice President’s comments reflect a theological interpretation of unexplained aerial phenomena that has existed alongside scientific and extraterrestrial explanations throughout history. Drawing from his Christian worldview, Vance suggested that what some interpret as alien encounters might better be understood through religious concepts of good and evil.

“When I hear about, sort of, extra-natural phenomenon — that’s where I go to is the Christian understanding that, you know, there’s a lotta good out there, but there’s also some evil out there,” he continued. Vance added that he believes “among the devil’s great tricks is to convince people he never existed.”

The Vice President’s remarks come as public and governmental interest in unidentified aerial phenomena has surged in recent years. The Pentagon has acknowledged numerous encounters between military personnel and unexplained objects, leading to congressional hearings and the establishment of formal investigation programs.

President Donald Trump announced last month his intention to order the release of files related to aliens and UFOs. In a February post on Truth Social, Trump declared, “I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).”

This renewed governmental interest follows decades of public fascination with the topic. Recent documentaries have explored claims of what some describe as an “80-year global coverup” of information regarding potential non-human intelligence.

The disclosure of classified information about UFOs has been a longtime demand among those interested in the subject, with advocates arguing that the public has a right to know what the government has documented about unexplained phenomena in our skies.

Vance’s religious interpretation of these phenomena represents just one perspective in a complex conversation that spans scientific research, national security concerns, and spiritual beliefs. As the administration works toward potential disclosure of UFO-related documents, the debate about what these phenomena actually represent – whether extraterrestrial visitors, advanced technology, natural phenomena, or, as Vance suggests, spiritual entities – continues to capture public imagination.

The Vice President’s comments highlight how personal belief systems often shape interpretations of unexplained events, even at the highest levels of government, adding another layer to the ongoing national conversation about unidentified aerial phenomena.
