U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested Christopher Leon Bailey, a 27-year-old Jamaican national with an extensive criminal history, following a violent road rage incident in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania.
Bailey was apprehended on Monday at the Delaware County Court as he was preparing to post bail. His arrest follows charges related to a January 23 road rage incident in which Bailey allegedly pulled a knife and attempted to stab another individual after a near collision. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Bailey then returned to his vehicle, chased down the victim, and intentionally ran over them before fleeing the scene.
Local authorities initially charged Bailey with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, recklessly endangering another person, possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and reckless driving. The charges were later elevated to attempted murder. The case is currently pending with the Delaware County Court.
“This serial criminal illegal alien’s crime spree in our country is OVER,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis in a statement to Fox News Digital.
Bailey’s immigration status has been in question since 2009, when he overstayed a tourist visa from Jamaica. In 2023, ICE arrested him in Philadelphia for immigration violations, but an immigration judge during the Biden administration determined he was not a public danger and ordered his release on bond.
This decision has drawn criticism from current DHS officials. Bis called it “outrageous” that “this repeat criminal was released by an immigration judge in 2023 and allowed to victimize more innocent Americans, including this individual he intentionally ran over and threatened with a knife.”
Bailey’s criminal record includes multiple convictions in New York City for robbery, larceny, disorderly conduct, and possession of stolen property. More seriously, in 2020, he was arrested in New York for criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction. He was subsequently convicted in 2022 in Kings County Criminal Court for criminal possession of a firearm.
The case highlights ongoing tensions between different approaches to immigration enforcement. The Trump administration has positioned itself as taking a more aggressive stance on removing undocumented immigrants with criminal records. “Under President Trump, DHS has unleashed ICE to target dangerous criminal illegal aliens, like Christopher Leon Bailey, and restore LAW and ORDER to our communities,” Bis stated.
The arrest comes amid broader national debates about sanctuary city policies and cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. Fox News Digital reached out to the Ridley Township Police Department to inquire whether it had cooperated with ICE in Bailey’s arrest but did not receive an immediate response.
Immigration enforcement has become a divisive political issue, with the current administration emphasizing the targeting of individuals who pose public safety threats. The handling of Bailey’s case raises questions about the process for evaluating public safety risks in immigration proceedings and the consequences of release decisions.
The condition of the victim from the January road rage incident remains unknown, as the Ridley Township Police Department has not provided updates on their status.
As Bailey’s criminal case proceeds, he will likely face both the local charges related to the road rage incident and separate immigration proceedings that could lead to deportation. His case exemplifies the complex intersection of criminal justice and immigration enforcement in the American legal system.

This is a disturbing case that underscores the need for a comprehensive, fair, and effective immigration system that prioritizes public safety. No one should have to suffer the consequences of such reckless and criminal behavior.
Absolutely. Policymakers must find ways to balance compassion and enforcement in a manner that protects all members of the community, regardless of immigration status.
While I understand the desire for compassion, repeat violent offenders should not be granted leniency or the opportunity to continue harming innocent people. Firm enforcement of the law is necessary in cases like this.
While the details of this case are upsetting, I’m glad to see ICE taking action to remove a violent offender from the community. Responsible immigration enforcement is crucial for public safety.
This case underscores the complexities of immigration policy and the balance between compassion and public safety. It’s a difficult issue without easy solutions, but the priority should be preventing further harm to citizens.
This is a tragic incident that highlights the need for robust immigration enforcement policies and procedures. While compassion is important, public safety must be the top priority when dealing with repeat offenders.
I’m glad ICE was able to apprehend this individual and take him off the streets. Allowing known criminals to remain in the country despite their violent history is unacceptable and puts innocent lives at risk.
It’s troubling to see that this individual was previously released, only to go on to commit another violent crime. Immigration enforcement must be consistently applied to protect the public, regardless of political considerations.
I agree completely. Selective enforcement or politically-motivated decisions around immigration status and criminal history are unacceptable when public safety is at stake.
