Hunter Biden Faces New Legal Challenge as Ex Reopens Paternity Suit Over Child Support Claims

Hunter Biden’s former partner Lunden Roberts has reopened a 2019 paternity suit in Arkansas, alleging the president’s son has failed to fulfill his child support obligations and has cut off contact with their daughter, Navy Joan Roberts.

In a motion filed Tuesday, Roberts’ legal team claimed Biden had agreed to provide their daughter with “a specified number of paintings he had created and that she had selected” as part of a revised child support arrangement. This agreement was reportedly made because Biden’s artwork might hold monetary value due to his public profile, and Roberts viewed it as an opportunity for father and daughter to bond over their shared interest in art.

According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, the idea for this arrangement emerged during a previous deposition when Roberts unexpectedly presented Biden with artwork created by their daughter specifically for him. The documents state this “simple, pure act of love brought Mr. Biden to tears” and inspired the concept of them “bonding over their shared love of art.”

Roberts contends the arrangement initially brought joy to her family because her daughter had “desperately longed for, talked about, and dreamed of a relationship with her father.” The court filing poignantly notes that the child had even said she “could not wait to get to heaven” so she could “be with her dad” because he “lives far away and is really busy.”

However, Roberts now alleges Biden quickly withdrew from the relationship after she published a memoir in 2024 about their history together, despite her claim that she did not disparage him in the book. The motion suggests Biden’s earlier displays of sentiment may have been calculated to secure reduced child support payments rather than reflecting genuine interest in developing a relationship with his daughter.

“Ms. Roberts has reached out to Mr. Biden numerous times about [their daughter] asking to speak with him, but the defendant, in classic, classless form, refuses to respond,” the filing states.

While Biden has reportedly provided some paintings, the motion claims their daughter has not been allowed to select any herself—an alleged violation of the child support agreement. Roberts’ legal team has asked the court to compel Biden to “communicate with his child” and has even requested he be jailed “as a civil penalty until he purges his contempt by complying with this court’s orders.”

The filing draws stark contrasts between the lifestyle of Navy Joan and Biden’s other children, noting that his four other children enjoy a standard of living “above that of the average American.” The motion argues, “It is axiomatic that no one can force Mr. Biden into being a good dad for [his daughter], but this court can make it so that [his daughter] has, at least, the same level of support as [her] younger half-brother.”

The case has a contentious history, with Biden initially denying paternity until a court-ordered test confirmed he was Navy’s father in 2019. Biden has three older daughters from his first marriage and a young son, Beau Biden Jr., with his current wife.

Despite the alleged estrangement, the filing claims the little girl has “defended the reputation of her grandfather, former President Joe Biden, against bullies” and feels “grateful” for how much her father loves her half-brother.

This legal challenge comes less than a year after Hunter Biden was convicted in a felony gun case for illegally possessing a firearm while using drugs. President Biden pardoned his son before leaving office, effectively terminating the case.

Representatives for Hunter Biden have not yet responded to requests for comment on the reopened paternity case.
