House Democrats on Friday released a series of photographs from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, including images of Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and the former Prince Andrew, fueling renewed scrutiny into the late financier’s high-profile connections.
The photos represent only a small fraction of more than 95,000 images Democratic lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee received from Epstein’s estate. Epstein died in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges that had sent shockwaves through elite circles in politics, business, and academia.
Among the initial batch of photos was a black-and-white image showing Trump alongside six women whose faces were redacted. When asked about the photos, Trump dismissed them as “no big deal,” claiming Epstein was “all over Palm Beach” and had “photos with everybody.”
Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, emphasized their cautious approach to handling the sensitive material. “Our commitment from day one has been to redact any photo, any information that could lead to any sort of harm to any of the victims,” Garcia stated, though he did not specify whether any women in the photos were abuse victims.
The White House pushed back strongly against the release. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson accused Democrats of “selectively releasing cherry-picked photos with random redactions to try and create a false narrative,” labeling it part of a “Democrat hoax against President Trump.”
Many of the photos have previously circulated publicly. Democrats indicated they plan to continue releasing images in the coming weeks, aiming to pressure the Trump administration over its earlier refusal to release documents related to the Epstein investigation.
“Donald Trump right now needs to release the files to the American public so that the truth can come out and we can actually get some sense of justice for the survivors,” Garcia added. Democrats initially released 19 photos Friday morning before sharing approximately 70 more later in the day.
The photo collection also featured various aspects of Epstein’s life, including one of him taking a bath, another with a swollen lip, images of his residence, and a photo of him posing with a book about scandal.
These releases are separate from the Department of Justice case files that the government faces a deadline to produce next week. Those documents have long been the subject of widespread speculation and conspiracy theories.
Trump, who was once closely associated with Epstein, has maintained that he severed ties with him well before the sex trafficking charges emerged. Similarly, Clinton has downplayed his relationship with Epstein, acknowledging travel on Epstein’s private jet but denying knowledge of any criminal activity. Clinton has not been accused of misconduct by any of Epstein’s known victims.
However, the controversy continues to grow. Republicans on the House committee are now pressuring both Bill and Hillary Clinton to testify in their investigation. Rep. James Comer, the Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, threatened Friday to begin contempt of Congress proceedings if the Clintons don’t appear next week or reschedule depositions for January.
A spokesperson for the Republican-controlled committee asserted that nothing in the documents they’ve received indicates “any wrongdoing” by Trump.
The photos released Friday also included images of several other prominent figures, including right-wing political strategist Steve Bannon, billionaires Richard Branson and Bill Gates, filmmaker Woody Allen, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and law professor Alan Dershowitz. All have denied wrongdoing in their associations with Epstein.
For some, these connections have already had consequences. After earlier revelations about emails between Summers and Epstein, Summers stepped away from his teaching position at Harvard University and faced other professional repercussions.
Some lawmakers believe the complete case files from the Justice Department could implicate additional powerful figures in Epstein’s abuse network. Rep. Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican who helped pass legislation requiring the public release of the files, expressed optimism about the Justice Department’s efforts to have grand jury material released from several courts.
“The grand jury material is just a small fraction of what the DOJ needs to release,” Massie explained, suggesting authorities might possess evidence implicating others beyond just Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
The ongoing release of Epstein-related materials continues to cast a shadow over numerous powerful figures and institutions, raising questions about accountability and the extent of Epstein’s influence within elite social circles.
