The Department of Homeland Security terminated a senior Customs and Border Protection official on Thursday after discovering the officer was allegedly leaking sensitive personal information about CBP personnel and border wall negotiations to media outlets, according to department sources.

The official, whose name has not been released, was escorted out of CBP headquarters in Washington D.C. immediately following the discovery of the unauthorized disclosures.

“As DHS law enforcement face an 8000% increase in death threats, leaking law enforcement sensitive information is abhorrently dangerous,” a DHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “DHS is agnostic about your standing, tenure, political appointment, or status as a career civil servant — we will track down leakers and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

The termination occurs amid growing concerns about the targeting of federal immigration enforcement officers across the country. Just days earlier, an investigation uncovered a sophisticated underground communications network being utilized by anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activists nationwide to track, monitor and expose federal agents.

The investigation revealed at least 13 database systems storing sensitive information about federal agents, including personal details, photographs, uniform specifications, behavior patterns, and phone numbers. These databases reportedly enable activists to coordinate actions against immigration enforcement operations.

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed last week that the bureau is investigating Signal messaging chats used by activists to coordinate efforts to obstruct and confront federal agents in Minneapolis and other cities. While it remains unclear whether the fired CBP official had any connection to these Signal group activities, DHS sources confirmed the individual was leaking information to the press.

The security breach comes at a particularly volatile time for federal immigration enforcement agencies. A nationwide network comprising hundreds of anti-ICE groups has established what investigators describe as a “rapid response” system to train civilians and mobilize them for confrontations with federal agents.

These confrontations have already led to physical assaults on agents, raising serious concerns about the potential for deadly violence. Federal authorities worry about the safety implications for both activists and agents as tensions continue to escalate.

One notable case involves Kyle Wagner, a self-described Antifa member arrested in Minneapolis after allegedly encouraging followers to attack ICE agents. In a video obtained by investigators, Wagner reportedly told followers to “get your guns” and identify agents.

Attorney General Pam Bondi addressed Wagner’s case directly, stating he “allegedly doxxed and called for the murder of law enforcement officers, encouraged bloodshed in the streets, and proudly claimed affiliation with the terrorist organization Antifa before going on the run.”

Law enforcement experts note that the unauthorized disclosure of agent identities and personal information presents an unprecedented security challenge for DHS and its component agencies. With federal immigration enforcement officers increasingly targeted for intimidation and potential violence, the department has adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward information leaks.

Several federal agencies are now collaborating to investigate the multi-channel communications network allegedly being used to coordinate activist confrontations with ICE agents. The firing of the senior CBP official represents the latest development in ongoing efforts to protect the identities of federal law enforcement officers whose exposure could endanger themselves or their families.

The case highlights the increasingly dangerous environment facing immigration enforcement personnel as political tensions surrounding border security and immigration policy continue to intensify. DHS has pledged to pursue all available legal remedies against those who compromise officer safety through unauthorized information disclosures.

Federal authorities have not yet announced whether criminal charges will be filed against the terminated CBP official.
