Democratic U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas has accused Republicans of attempting to rig her primary race against moderate Texas State Representative James Talarico through controversial changes to polling locations that created widespread confusion among voters.

The allegations emerged Tuesday after the Texas Supreme Court issued an emergency ruling against Crockett’s campaign request to extend voting hours in Dallas County, overturning a lower court’s decision that would have kept polls open until 9:00 p.m. The high court ordered election officials to separate ballots cast after the standard 7:00 p.m. closing time.

“I can tell you now that people have been disenfranchised,” Crockett told supporters at her campaign event Tuesday evening. “Knowing that Dallas County is a big dump of votes, we, in my opinion, will not know the election results overall tonight.”

“Unfortunately, this is what Republicans like to do. And, so, they specifically targeted Dallas County, and I think we all know why,” Crockett stated, implying racial or partisan motivations behind the polling changes.
