Threatening Letter to GOP Office Calls for Violence Against ICE Agents
A menacing 12-page letter delivered to the Sonoma County Republican Party office in Northern California has called for violent action against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The anonymous letter, titled “A Real American Response to Foreign Terrorist Invasions,” explicitly advocates for attacks against federal immigration officers, including the use of improvised explosive devices.
The document, which arrived with no name or return address, mocks ICE agents for “living out their ‘Call of Duty’ fantasy army roles, only with real assault weapons” while providing detailed instructions for creating explosive devices intended to “send them home in a body bag.”
Sonoma County Republican officials immediately reported the threatening letter to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Department. The anonymous sender made no specific reference to Sonoma County in the document.
The letter begins by referencing the recent shooting death of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, who was killed by an ICE agent earlier this month. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Good was attempting to ram her vehicle into an agent when he fired in self-defense. The letter writer used this incident to claim that “every private citizen’s life, immigrant or not, is at risk of annihilation by these low-IQ, trigger-happy domestic terrorists.”
“They now need to feel real war, just as any foreign invading army would,” the letter states, while condemning Republican lawmakers for supporting immigration enforcement policies. The document goes on to advocate specific violent tactics against ICE personnel: “ICE agents and their backers need to become the targets, IED’d, run over with vehicles, shot at by snipers, sprayed with toxic chemicals.”
Particularly alarming are two pages dedicated to detailed instructions for manufacturing chemical improvised explosive devices. This section, titled “Carrying the War Back to the ICE Invader Murderers and Protecting Our Personnel,” includes descriptions of “a shrapnel device guaranteed to shred the legs, genitals, face, eyeballs, and hands of murdering ICE agents and their bosses.”
The letter also singles out several Trump administration officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller. Interestingly, it also mentions Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, who has been a vocal critic of ICE and immigration enforcement policies.
In a disclaimer that appears to distance the threats from official political channels, the letter states: “NOTE: No official of any party had anything to do with the composing or distributing of this document; it is strictly a private ‘patriotic effort,’ like Donald Trump’s January 6th Washington, D.C., insurgents.”
The threatening communication comes at a time of heightened tension around immigration enforcement. According to the Department of Homeland Security, ICE is facing an alarming 1,300% increase in assaults and an 8,000% increase in death threats toward its agents.
This incident reflects the increasingly volatile nature of the immigration debate in the United States, where policy disagreements have escalated to threats of violence against federal law enforcement. Law enforcement officials have not yet publicly commented on their investigation into the source of the letter.
The letter’s arrival coincides with broader tensions surrounding immigration enforcement nationwide, particularly following recent unrest in Minneapolis after Good’s death, where anti-ICE sentiments were spray-painted on vehicles believed to be used by federal officers.
