Tony Hawk Refutes Misinformation After Being Named in Epstein Files

Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has forcefully denied allegations connecting him to Jeffrey Epstein’s island following the release of documents that mentioned his name among the so-called “Epstein Files.”

The 57-year-old professional skateboarder took to Instagram to address claims that one of his weddings allegedly took place on Epstein’s private Caribbean island. In a pointed message written in capital letters, Hawk detailed the locations of all four of his marriages to dispel the rumors.

“Here are the facts and timelines of my nuptials. And I apologize if they don’t fit a narrative of nonsense,” Hawk wrote. He then listed his wedding locations and dates: Fallbrook, California in 1990; San Diego, California in 1996; Tavarua Surf Island in Fiji in 2006; and Adare Manor in Ireland in 2015.

The confusion appears to stem from his 2006 ceremony in Fiji, where a photographer named Mark Epstein documented the event and later licensed the images to Getty Images. Hawk clarified that this photographer, an established action sports photographer from Wyoming, bears no relation to Jeffrey Epstein.

“This is all easily verifiable information. Facts are not fungible,” Hawk emphasized in his statement, adding, “I never met [Jeffrey Epstein] and never visited his island.”

Hawk also apologized to photographer Mark Epstein for inadvertently drawing him into the controversy, addressing him directly in his post: “Sorry you also got pulled into the misinformation vortex @MARKEPS @MARKEPSTEINPHOTO.”

The skateboarding icon’s name appeared in the Epstein Files—a collection of documents including witness and victim interviews, emails, and items seized from Epstein’s properties that have been made public by the United States Department of Justice. According to these documents, an unnamed Threat Intake Examiner reported an alleged human trafficking case involving a minor in an email dated October 22, 2024, which mentioned Hawk.

The email claimed: “They would have sex with the young women and she was taken from Ireland and brought to Jeffrey Epstein Island when she was 13 years old. [Redacted] said that she was there when Prince Edward was there and when Tony Hawk got married on the island.”

The release of the Epstein Files has caused considerable public interest and scrutiny, with numerous high-profile individuals finding their names mentioned in various contexts throughout the documents. Many, like Hawk, have subsequently issued statements denying connections to Epstein or his activities.

Jeffrey Epstein, a disgraced financier, faced federal charges related to sex trafficking before his death in custody in August 2019. The ongoing release of documents related to his case continues to generate headlines and has prompted many individuals to address mentions of their names in the files.

Social media has amplified much of the speculation surrounding the documents, often spreading unverified claims at rapid speed. Public figures caught in this crossfire frequently find themselves needing to address rumors before they gain further traction online.
