Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has firmly denied allegations linking him to Jeffrey Epstein’s island following the release of recently unsealed Epstein files. The 57-year-old professional skateboarder took to social media to address rumors claiming one of his weddings took place on Epstein’s private Caribbean property.
In a strongly worded statement posted to Instagram Stories, Hawk provided a detailed timeline of his four marriages, emphasizing none occurred on Epstein’s island. “Here are the facts and timelines of my nuptials. And I apologise if they don’t fit a narrative of nonsense,” Hawk wrote, before listing his wedding locations spanning from 1990 to 2015.
According to Hawk, his marriages took place in Fallbrook, California (1990), San Diego, California (1996), Fiji’s Tavarua Surf Island (2006), and at Adare Manor in Ireland (2015).
The confusion appears to stem from Hawk’s 2006 wedding in Fiji, where sports photographer Mark Epstein was present and took photos that were later licensed to Getty Images. Hawk specifically clarified that this photographer has no relation to Jeffrey Epstein’s brother, who shares the same first name.
“His name is [coincidentally] Mark Epstein, an accomplished action sports photographer from Wyoming and of no relation to Jeffrey Epstein (who I never met and whose island I never visited),” Hawk explained. “This is all easily verifiable information. Facts are not fungible.”
Hawk also apologized to photographer Mark Epstein for inadvertently drawing him into the controversy, addressing him directly in his post with: “Sorry you also got pulled into the misinformation vortex.”
The skateboarding icon’s name appeared in the Epstein Files, a collection of documents including witness interviews, victim statements, emails, and items seized from Epstein’s properties that have been made public by the United States Department of Justice. Specifically, Hawk was mentioned in an October 2024 email from an unnamed Threat Intake Examiner reporting an alleged human trafficking case involving a minor.
The email claimed that a victim “was taken from Ireland and brought to Jeffrey Epstein Island when she was 13 years old” and that this individual “was there when Prince Edward was there and when Tony Hawk got married on the island.”
This latest controversy highlights the ongoing fallout from the Epstein case, which continues to generate headlines years after the disgraced financier’s death in 2019. Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested on federal charges of sex trafficking of minors, died in his jail cell while awaiting trial. His associate Ghislaine Maxwell was subsequently convicted in 2021 on charges related to sex trafficking and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
The release of the Epstein files has implicated numerous high-profile individuals, leading to a mix of legitimate connections and, as in Hawk’s case, apparent misinformation. Social media has amplified both verified information and unsubstantiated claims, forcing many public figures to address their alleged connections to Epstein.
Hawk, widely regarded as one of skateboarding’s greatest pioneers and ambassadors, has built a successful career spanning decades, including his popular video game franchise and numerous entrepreneurial ventures. Unlike many celebrities caught in the Epstein controversy, Hawk has responded quickly and directly to the allegations, providing specific details to refute the claims.
