Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has firmly denied circulating rumors about a supposed fourth marriage, issuing a strong statement on Saturday that threatens legal action against those spreading what he calls false information about his personal life.

The 42-year-old cricket veteran took to Instagram to address the speculation that had been gaining traction on social media platforms, where his name was being linked to an unnamed influencer in what would allegedly be his fourth marriage.

“I’ve always sought to keep my private life private, out of respect for my family. However, my silence seems to have been taken for granted,” Malik stated in his social media post. The cricketer expressed particular concern about negative comments directed at his current wife, actress Sana Javed, whom he married earlier this year.

Malik’s personal life has frequently made headlines in the South Asian media landscape. His marriage to Javed in January 2024 came shortly after his divorce from Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, with whom he shares a son named Izhaan. The cross-border union between the Pakistani cricketer and the Indian tennis icon had been a subject of intense public interest throughout their 14-year marriage, which began in 2010.

Before his relationship with Mirza, Malik was married to Ayesha Siddiqui for eight years, divorcing in 2010 in what was also a highly publicized separation.

In his statement, Malik revealed that the rumors have been particularly troubling as his son is now reaching an age where he could be exposed to the speculation. “I am addressing this situation because my son is now at an age where he’ll be reading these false and fabricated stories, spread for views for mere pennies of earnings,” he wrote, adding that these “lame accusations” are causing distress to his loved ones.

The cricket star, who has represented Pakistan in over 400 international matches across all formats since his debut in 1999, expressed frustration at what he perceives as an invasion of privacy that has gone too far.

“Since my second marriage, people have attempted to tarnish my reputation by linking me to individuals I’ve never met,” Malik noted, highlighting how unauthorized stories about his personal life have circulated without verification or his consent.

The issue underscores the challenges public figures face in the digital age, where social media can rapidly amplify unverified information. Celebrity marriages in South Asia often attract extraordinary public attention, particularly when they involve high-profile personalities from different countries or entertainment industries.

Malik made a direct appeal to the public and media outlets: “I urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation about my personal life, or anyone else’s.” He acknowledged that while scrutiny comes with being a public figure, there are boundaries that should be respected.

“As a public figure, I understand scrutiny comes with the support, but there’s a limit. Invading privacy or damaging reputations crosses that line,” his statement continued. Malik emphasized the human impact of such rumors, noting, “I have a family just like you all do.”

The cricketer concluded his message with a clear warning that failure to cease the spread of these rumors would result in “strict legal action” from his team against both individuals and organizations involved in perpetuating the claims.

Malik remains an active player in various cricket leagues around the world, having retired from international cricket following Pakistan’s exit from the 2022 T20 World Cup.
