Entertainment Producer Denies Indecent Assault Allegations Amid Workplace Conflict
A legal battle has erupted between a prominent entertainment producer and a former production staff member, with both sides presenting starkly different accounts of workplace interactions that led to serious allegations of indecent assault.
On November 3rd, attorney Kyungjun Lee of Law Firm Cheongchul, representing the accused producer identified only as Mr. A, issued a forceful denial of the allegations, characterizing them as “false accusations” stemming from a workplace reassignment dispute.
“The individual making the unilateral claim of victimhood was transferred from the original team on August 20, 2025, due to complaints from juniors, colleagues, seniors, and even external collaborators,” Lee stated in his official response to the allegations.
According to the attorney, the complainant, referred to as Mr. B, had created a toxic work environment that ultimately led to a complete breakdown in team communication. “Eventually, communication broke down to the extent that key personnel essential to the project avoided even making eye contact with Mr. B,” Lee claimed, adding that the producer had attempted multiple interventions before escalating the matter to upper management.
The attorney specifically rejected any suggestion of inappropriate physical conduct, stating: “It is completely untrue that Mr. A made any physical contact with Mr. B that could cause sexual humiliation or made derogatory remarks when Mr. B rejected such contact.”
The defense claims to have secured video evidence showing that any physical contact between the two was normal workplace interaction, occurring in public settings with numerous witnesses present. The legal team has reportedly submitted this evidence to investigators.
The case first came to public attention when the Seoul Mapo Police Station confirmed receiving a petition regarding Mr. A in August. While authorities have not disclosed specific details about the investigation, the complaint has already triggered significant controversy in South Korea’s entertainment industry, where power dynamics and workplace behavior have faced increasing scrutiny.
Mr. B’s legal representative, Lee Eun-ui, presents a dramatically different account of events. According to this version, Mr. B was removed from the production team just five days after rejecting what they characterize as indecent advances from Mr. A.
“After the incident, Mr. B was isolated by those around him and suffered severe secondary harm,” attorney Lee stated. “Mr. B hopes that Mr. A will admit his wrongdoing and stop causing further harm, and urges the company to take action to prevent additional harm both inside and outside the organization.”
The timing of the transfer remains a critical point of contention. While Mr. A’s team asserts the reassignment resulted from long-standing performance and interpersonal issues, Mr. B’s representatives suggest it was direct retaliation for rejecting unwanted advances.
In his statement, Mr. A’s attorney suggested the allegations are an attempt at revenge for the professional reassignment: “Although the complainant appeared to accept this [transfer], he later strongly objected to Mr. A’s superiors. When his objections were not accepted, he began attacking Mr. A with petitions filled with falsehoods.”
The case highlights ongoing tensions in South Korea’s entertainment industry, where hierarchical structures often create complicated power dynamics. In recent years, the industry has faced greater scrutiny over workplace culture, particularly following the #MeToo movement’s impact in the country.
Mr. A’s legal team emphasized that colleagues “regardless of gender” are supporting the producer’s innocence and characterized the situation as “not about gender, but a battle between truth and falsehood.”
Both parties have indicated they will cooperate fully with investigators. The production company involved has not been named, nor has it issued any public statement regarding the allegations or its internal response.

The producer’s response seems quite forceful in denying the allegations. However, the complainant’s side of the story is still unclear. Workplace misconduct claims deserve a thorough and fair investigation.
That’s a fair point. Both sides should have an opportunity to present their case and evidence before any conclusions are drawn. Rushing to take sides isn’t productive.
