Pakistan Denies Afghan Claims of Hospital Strike That Reportedly Killed 200

Pakistan and Afghanistan have entered their most lethal border confrontation in years, with Afghanistan alleging that Pakistani airstrikes destroyed a Kabul hospital on Monday, resulting in more than 200 casualties. Pakistan has firmly denied these accusations, insisting their military operation targeted only militant installations.

According to Afghanistan’s Health Ministry spokesman Sharafat Zaman, the strikes completely demolished a facility that treated drug users in Kabul. In a televised statement later shared on social media by government spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid, Zaman declared that “all parts of the drug treatment hospital had been destroyed” with the death toll exceeding 200.

Local Afghan media broadcast footage showing firefighters battling flames amid the rubble of what appeared to be a heavily damaged building. The alleged hospital strike occurred just hours after both countries reported deadly cross-border exchanges of fire, which reportedly killed four people on the Afghan side.

Pakistani officials have categorically rejected Afghanistan’s narrative, describing the claims as “false and misleading.” In an official statement, Pakistan’s military maintained that their operations were conducted with precision against known militant hideouts and explicitly avoided civilian infrastructure.
