Reality TV stars from two popular shows are now entangled in a legal battle as “Vanderpump Villa” star Marciano Brunette has filed a defamation lawsuit against “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Demi Engemann over sexual assault allegations.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Brunette claims Engemann has falsely labeled him a “sexual predator” and accused him of sexual assault, damaging his professional reputation. The lawsuit centers around an incident that allegedly occurred in August 2024 during filming at the “Vanderpump Villa” property in Italy.

Brunette contends the off-camera kiss between the two reality stars was entirely consensual, contradicting Engemann’s public characterization of the encounter. In the court filings, he alleges that Engemann has strategically shifted her account of the interaction over time, “reframing an obviously consensual interaction as one of sexual misconduct and then as sexual assault” to create a compelling storyline for herself.

The legal action doesn’t stop with Engemann. Brunette has also named “Mormon Wives” producer Jeff Jenkins in the lawsuit. The reality star alleges the production team “aired the allegations in a way designed to maximize impact while cutting Marciano out and denying him any meaningful opportunity to respond.”

Brunette further claims the producers had “obvious reasons to doubt Engemann’s account,” citing inconsistencies and delays in her reporting of the alleged incident, but proceeded to amplify the accusations “for profit” regardless of these concerns.

As part of his defense, Brunette has included what he claims are text messages from Engemann sent after the Italy trip. According to the lawsuit, she maintained regular contact with him for months through calls, texts, and FaceTime conversations. He alleges she even invited him to visit her in Utah and California and shared her location with him—behavior he describes as confirming “a continued relationship, not a person reacting to sexual assault.”

The lawsuit has drawn attention to the increasingly blurred lines between reality television drama and real-world legal consequences. Both “Vanderpump Villa” and “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” have garnered substantial viewership, with cast members achieving significant social media followings and public profiles.

Brunette claims the fallout from Engemann’s allegations has resulted in “lost professional opportunities, harassment by strangers, and lasting harm to Marciano’s reputation.” Beyond monetary damages, his legal team is seeking a “narrowly tailored injunction” that would prohibit Engemann and Jenkins from repeating statements that the court determines to be defamatory.

The case highlights the complex issues surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry, particularly in the reality television sector where personal lives and professional careers frequently overlap. It also raises questions about the responsibilities of production companies when cast members make serious allegations against one another.

Representatives for Engemann and Jenkins have not yet responded to requests for comment on the lawsuit.

The legal battle comes at a time when both shows have been attracting significant attention from viewers and on social media platforms. “Vanderpump Villa” is a spinoff of the popular “Vanderpump Rules” franchise, while “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” has gained a dedicated following for its portrayal of women navigating life within the Mormon community.

As the case proceeds through the legal system, it will likely continue to draw attention from fans of both shows and raise important questions about accountability, truth, and the real-world consequences of reality TV drama.
