“I’m offended by the statement they put out,” Brown said, directly challenging the police department’s version of events. “Like we applied for something, didn’t get it, and did it anyway. Like we were insubordinate.”

The Beverly Hills Police Department had issued a statement claiming organizers proceeded despite being denied a required permit: “An event permit had been applied for and denied by the City due to previous violations associated with events at the address. Despite the fact that the permit was denied, organizers still chose to proceed with inviting hundreds of guests knowing that it was not allowed to occur.”

Brown categorically denied these assertions. “That was not true. We didn’t need a permit because the owner of the house, that was his space. We were family friends, so he opened up his festivities to us. We never applied for one,” he explained, adding that he had invested “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in preparation for what he described as “an event that was supposed to be positive.”

The Celtics standout, who has been instrumental in Boston maintaining the second-best offense in the NBA this season, expressed frustration over what he perceives as selective enforcement. “Out of everyone doing something, I was the only one to get shut down. So you tell me how I should feel about it,” Brown stated, implying potential bias in the decision to target his event specifically.
