Janice Combs Denies Allegations of Abuse by Son Sean “Diddy” Combs in Netflix Documentary

In a strongly worded statement released Saturday, Janice Combs, the 85-year-old mother of Sean “Diddy” Combs, has refuted claims that her son ever physically abused her, specifically addressing allegations made in Netflix’s recently released documentary, “Sean Combs: The Reckoning.”

“I am writing this statement to correct some of the lies presented in the Netflix documentary released on December 2, 2025,” Janice Combs told Deadline. “These inaccuracies regarding my son Sean’s upbringing and family life are intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.”

The former teacher’s assistant specifically contested claims made by Kirk Burrowes, a co-founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, who alleged in the documentary that he witnessed Sean Combs slap his mother and call her a derogatory name during a conversation about the 1991 City College stampede, a tragic event that left nine people dead.

“That was a very sad day for all of us,” Janice said, referring to the deadly crowd rush at the overly packed school gymnasium. She described Burrowes’ account as “inaccurate and patently false,” adding that “for him to use this tragedy and incorporate fake narratives to further his prior failed and current attempt to gain what was never his, Bad Boy Records, is wrong, outrageous and past offensive.”

The documentary, executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, a long-standing rival of Combs, features extensive interviews with Burrowes, who has filed multiple lawsuits against both Sean and Janice Combs. In his legal actions, Burrowes alleges sexual abuse, physical violence, financial fraud, and a conspiracy to seize his ownership stake in Bad Boy Entertainment.

Among Burrowes’ more serious allegations is the claim that in 1996, Sean Combs forced him at baseball bat-point to sign over a 25% ownership stake in the record label. He has also accused Janice Combs of conspiring to assume control of his share and concealing the alleged fraud.

In March of this year, Burrowes expanded his allegations, describing what he called a “deeply disturbing pattern” of abuse by Combs, including unwanted sexual advances, forced voyeurism, physical coercion, and forced submission between 1995 and 1996.

Sean Combs’ legal team has consistently denied these allegations. “This latest lawsuit filed by Kirk Burrowes, filed by none other than Tyrone Blackburn, is another frivolous attempt to re-litigate claims that have been repeatedly thrown out of court over the past 30 years,” his lawyers said in a statement. “Despite repeated dismissals, Burrowes and Blackburn are intent on wasting the court’s time and resources by refiling dismissed claims and now dragging Mr. Combs’ 80-year-old mother into this.”

The documentary and these allegations emerge as Sean Combs remains incarcerated, currently serving a 50-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He is expected to remain behind bars until June 2028.

This latest development adds another layer to the ongoing legal and public relations challenges facing the disgraced music mogul, whose empire has crumbled amid numerous allegations of misconduct. Once one of the most powerful figures in the entertainment industry, Combs has seen his legacy severely tarnished by multiple lawsuits and criminal charges.

“I am requesting that these distortions, falsehoods and misleading statements be publicly retracted,” Janice Combs concluded in her statement, defending both herself and her son against what she characterizes as false narratives designed to further damage the family’s reputation.

“Sean Combs: The Reckoning” is currently available to stream on Netflix, presenting viewers with testimonies from various individuals claiming to have witnessed or experienced troubling behavior from the music industry mogul throughout his career.
