Actor Ioan Gruffudd Claims Ex-Wife Threatened to “Amber Heard” His Career

Actor Ioan Gruffudd testified Monday that his ex-wife, Alice Evans, threatened to destroy his career by making false allegations against him, comparing her intended actions to those of Amber Heard in her high-profile legal battle with Johnny Depp.

The “Fantastic Four” star appeared in court seeking to renew an existing restraining order against Evans for himself and his current wife, Bianca Wallace. Gruffudd, 52, claims Evans has engaged in stalking behavior and conducted an online harassment campaign against the couple.

During his testimony, Gruffudd described a particularly disturbing incident following a scheduled visit with their daughters, Ella, 16, and Elsie, 12. According to the Daily Mail, Gruffudd stated that Evans berated him with obscenities “at the top of her lungs” and made an explicit threat.

“She said she was going to destroy me and she was going to ‘Amber Heard’ me,” Gruffudd testified, referring to the defamation case in which Depp successfully sued Heard for $50 million over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed about domestic abuse. “Then she said to the girls, ‘If daddy is ever weird or creepy with you in a physical way, please let me know.'”

The Welsh actor further alleged that Evans, 57, accused him of being “a child molester, a pedophile and a drug addict,” and claimed he was “out of my mind on sex and drugs and millennials.” He expressed being deeply disturbed by what he characterized as Evans’ willingness to go to extreme lengths to damage his reputation.

“I was anxious that she would use my public image to create a scandal bigger than Brad and Angelina. I found that to be incredibly threatening,” Gruffudd testified.

According to the actor, Evans also allegedly threatened his current wife, Wallace, 33, whom he married in April 2025. “She said she was going to create a false crime that Bianca perpetrated and she would be deported,” Gruffudd claimed, adding that Evans allegedly hired a private detective to follow Wallace.

The couple’s 2021 split has been marked by public acrimony. Their divorce was finalized in 2023 after nearly 14 years of marriage. In October 2021, Evans publicly accused Gruffudd of having a three-year affair with Wallace, whom Evans reportedly considered a friend—an allegation Gruffudd denied in court.

This legal battle has been ongoing for years. In February 2022, Gruffudd first obtained a restraining order against Evans after claiming she had repeatedly threatened throughout late 2020 and early 2021 to make false public accusations if he left her. Court documents obtained by Page Six at that time showed Gruffudd alleging that Evans “told me verbally multiple times that she would do to me what Amber Heard did to Johnny Depp.”

The court granted him a three-year restraining order in August 2022, but the family conflict continued to escalate. In June 2023, the couple’s eldest daughter, Ella, filed for her own restraining order against both her father and Wallace, though her request was denied.

The financial aspects of their divorce have also become contentious. In July 2024, Evans filed documents with the Los Angeles Superior Court requesting increased child and spousal support, claiming financial hardship. “While I am struggling to put food on the table for our children, Ioan is jet setting around the world,” she alleged in documents obtained by Page Six. “I have drained all of my personal savings paying my prior attorneys in this case and paying for my expenses.”

Representatives for both Gruffudd and Evans did not respond to requests for comment on the ongoing legal proceedings.

The case highlights the increasingly common phenomenon of high-profile divorce proceedings playing out in both courtrooms and the court of public opinion, with allegations that can potentially impact the professional reputations of those involved.
