In a troubling escalation of political rhetoric, Green Party Deputy Leader Mothin Ali has called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to apologize after comments in Parliament that appeared to validate false claims about Ali’s participation in a recent demonstration.

Ali reports receiving multiple death threats following his attendance at an anti-war protest in Parliament Square last Saturday. The demonstration was subsequently mischaracterized by certain media outlets, including GB News, as a rally supporting the Iranian regime.

“It could cost me my life, this kind of story,” Ali told reporters. “I’m an anti-war activist, I got involved in politics because of anti-war stuff. I was there to call out the illegal attacks [of the US and Israel on Iran] and to raise my voice against Britain getting involved.”

The threats received by Ali included menacing messages stating “we know where to find you,” “you have no idea what’s coming,” and demands to “pack your bags before it’s too late,” according to communications reviewed by The Guardian.
