Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs’ legal troubles intensified Friday as his former personal chef broke her silence following his first court appearance in Boston on assault charges stemming from an alleged December incident.

Mila Adams, who accused Diggs of choking her after a Patriots game, released a statement shortly after the NFL star entered a not-guilty plea. In her carefully worded response, Adams emphasized her commitment to allowing the legal process to unfold properly.

“I would never make false claims for personal gain or to damage someone’s reputation,” Adams stated. “I did not seek public attention and reported this matter through the proper legal channels. This is an active criminal matter, and I will continue to respect the legal process.”

The chef directly addressed growing speculation about her motives, particularly dismissing rumors about financial settlements. “I have never sought money nor engaged in settlement discussions to settle this matter. Statements suggesting otherwise are harmful and untrue,” she wrote.

Adams also expressed a desire to remain above the fray of social media speculation, noting she “will not engage in rumors, personal attacks, or respond to misinformation” and urged others to refrain from “spreading false narratives” about the case.

The incident allegedly occurred following a salary dispute between Diggs and Adams, who had been working as his personal chef. Formal charges were filed against the 32-year-old wide receiver on December 29, with prosecutors accusing him of slapping and choking Adams.

Diggs, a three-time Pro Bowl selection who joined the Buffalo Bills in 2020 after beginning his career with the Minnesota Vikings, was represented in court by attorney Mitchell Schuster, who expressed confidence in his client’s innocence.

“We’re confident that after the facts and evidence are reviewed in this case, he will be completely exonerated,” Schuster told reporters gathered outside the courthouse.

The case comes at a particularly sensitive time for the NFL, which has faced increased scrutiny over how it handles allegations of violence against women. The league has not yet announced any disciplinary action against Diggs under its personal conduct policy, typically waiting for legal proceedings to advance further before making such determinations.

For the Buffalo Bills organization, the situation presents another off-field distraction following a season of ups and downs. The team has made no official comment on the legal proceedings, but sources close to the organization indicate they are monitoring the situation closely.

The alleged assault has also sparked conversations within the growing personal chef industry that serves professional athletes. Many in the field have noted the often-informal working arrangements that can lead to disputes, particularly regarding compensation and working conditions.

Adams concluded her statement by focusing on her path forward: “My focus is on healing, my work, and moving forward with integrity. I trust the legal process to address the facts, and I hope anyone following this matter will do the same.”

Diggs is scheduled to return to court on April 1, where pretrial proceedings are expected to continue. If convicted, he could face both legal penalties and potential NFL discipline under the league’s personal conduct policy.
