Adam Sandler Debunks Viral Fake TikTok Story About Daughter’s Chanel Experience
Actor Adam Sandler has firmly denied a widely circulated TikTok video claiming his eldest daughter had been humiliated at a Chanel store, calling the viral story “100 percent insane and made-up.”
Speaking to People magazine on Thursday at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, the 59-year-old star addressed the fabricated story that had been making rounds online.
“I’ve been hearing about this thing and I saw it, and it’s just insane,” Sandler said, expressing frustration over the false narrative.
The fake TikTok video, which began circulating on Tuesday, purportedly showed Sandler recounting an incident where his 19-year-old daughter Sadie was allegedly told she “wasn’t allowed to touch” certain items at a Beverly Hills Chanel store and was “publicly humiliated.” The fabricated clip further claimed that Sandler retaliated by purchasing $312,000 worth of bags to teach the employee a lesson.
“It’s just this made-up, weird thing that people ask me about,” Sandler explained. In a separate interview with USA Today, the “Happy Gilmore” star expressed bewilderment at how such fabrications gain traction. “That was one of the weirdest, dumbest, 100% made up things. It was very odd. I don’t know how that [expletive] happens.”
This incident highlights the growing issue of deepfakes and manipulated content on social media platforms, where celebrities often find themselves at the center of fabricated stories that can quickly gain momentum online.
While adamantly denying the Chanel store incident, Sandler did confirm one recent story about him was accurate. Last month, The New York Post reported that the comedian was spotted at a Southern California In-N-Out Burger. “I have to say, that story is true,” Sandler confirmed to People. “So that one’s true. The other one’s pathetic.”
According to ABC7, Sandler visited the fast-food chain in Cabazon, a desert town in Riverside County, on January 3. Restaurant-goer Odeira Villeda captured video of the star waiting for his food while wearing his signature casual attire—an olive-green hoodie, shorts, and sneakers.
“We were waiting for our order when Adam Sandler casually appeared in line,” Villeda recalled. “A lot of people noticed and were amazed. The In-N-Out worker even brought his food to the table—which they usually don’t do.” Sandler reportedly greeted fans and posed for photographs before enjoying his meal.
At the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Sandler was honored with the Maltin Modern Master Award. During his acceptance speech, he paid tribute to his wife Jackie, 51, whom he married in 2003, describing her as “the love of my life.”
“Thank you for keeping me going all these years. I love you forever. I couldn’t do it without you,” he said. He also dedicated loving words to his daughters: “To my daughters, Sadie and Sunny, you guys are my world. I love you two like you’ll never know.”
Sandler shares his two daughters—Sadie, 19, and Sunny, 17—with Jackie. The family is frequently seen together at public events, with recent appearances including the “Happy Gilmore 2” World Premiere at Jazz at Lincoln Center and the 82nd Venice International Film Festival for “Jay Kelly” in 2025.
The actor’s firm denial of the fake TikTok story serves as a reminder of the challenges celebrities face in the era of digital misinformation, where distinguishing fact from fiction becomes increasingly difficult for the public.
