Aaron Phypers Denies Accusations Following Arrest

Aaron Phypers, the estranged husband of actress Denise Richards, has publicly denied allegations of domestic abuse following his arrest at a Los Angeles courthouse last week. Phypers, 53, was taken into custody by Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies after testifying in a hearing related to Richards’ temporary restraining order against him.

A representative for Phypers issued a statement to Us Weekly declaring his innocence in the matter. “We can confirm that Aaron Phypers was, in fact, arrested near the end of the family law court day on October 17, 2025, and was later released on bail,” the spokesperson said.

The representative suggested the arrest stemmed from accusations Richards had previously made against Phypers. “We have not seen the criminal complaint, but we believe that it is most likely based upon some of the same false accusations that Denise Richards has brought against Mr. Phypers in the family law domestic violence proceeding, which she claims occurred nearly four years ago,” the statement continued. “If so, we expect that the evidence will demonstrate Mr. Phypers’ innocence and that he will be acquitted.”

According to court records, Phypers was released on a $200,000 bond following his arrest. Richards’ attorney confirmed to media outlets that Phypers has been charged with “spousal abuse,” though specific details of the allegations have not been fully disclosed to the public.

An eyewitness who was present at the courthouse described the scene to Us Weekly, saying Phypers “didn’t seem to understand that he was about to get arrested” and was “taken down a nearby escalator” after being detained.
