In the wake of a fatal shooting by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis, a wave of unverified claims has emerged about the victim, Renee Nicole Good. Social media users have been circulating what appears to be an arrest record suggesting Good had a history of child abuse and domestic violence.

The document in question, shared widely on platforms like X and Facebook since January 11, shows what looks like an arrest history for someone named “Nicole Renee Good.” One post claimed, “Renee wasn’t so ‘Good’… Domestic Abuse Child Endangerment is enough for me,” while another suggested, “If you can abuse a child, abusing law enforcement is no stretch.”

The screenshot features an image resembling Good and lists several alleged arrests between 2022 and 2024, including a purported violation of a “domestic abuse child endangerment law.” However, multiple inconsistencies in the document raise serious questions about its authenticity.

Most notably, the birth date and age information in the document don’t align with verified information about Good. The circulated screenshot lists the subject as being 44 years old with an October 7, 1980 birthdate. Some versions even show a different age—35—with the same birth date, creating a mathematical impossibility.

Court records confirm that Good, who was killed on January 7, was 37 years old, born on April 2, 1988, according to a notarized Missouri court document from 2023 related to a name change request.

The alleged arrest record also lacks crucial information about jurisdiction. It contains no details about where these supposed arrests took place, making independent verification impossible. The document lists booking dates ranging from April 2022 to October 2024, a period during which Good primarily resided in Kansas City, Missouri, according to available records.

When presented with the screenshot, Kansas City Missouri Police Department spokesperson Phillip DiMartino responded, “I am unsure where that document is from,” further casting doubt on its legitimacy.

A comprehensive background check reveals a different picture of Good’s life than what the viral claims suggest. Born in Colorado Springs, she later lived in Virginia and Kansas City before recently relocating to Minneapolis. Good graduated from Old Dominion University in Virginia with an English degree in December 2020. Her personal life included marriages to Justin Sheppard of Colorado and later to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who died in 2023. She was the mother of three children.

Exhaustive searches through court records in Colorado, Missouri, and Virginia yielded no evidence that Good was ever charged with child abuse or endangerment. News reports and statements from friends and family similarly contain no references to such allegations. In fact, Joseph Macklin, her former brother-in-law, described her as “a great and loving mother” in an interview with The Washington Post.

At the time of her death, Good had recently moved to Minneapolis with her wife and 6-year-old son. Her first husband characterized her as a “devoted Christian” who never participated in protests, according to The Associated Press. They had two children together, now 15 and 12 years old.

The AP further reported that Good “was never charged with anything” beyond minor traffic violations. PolitiFact confirmed she received a citation in Virginia in 2019 for failure to have her vehicle inspected, and The Denver Post noted a 2012 traffic ticket in El Paso County, Colorado.

The circumstances surrounding Good’s death on January 7 remain under investigation. Video footage shows an ICE officer shooting into her vehicle during the incident in Minneapolis, but the spreading of unverified criminal histories appears to be an attempt to shape public perception of the victim rather than contribute to a factual understanding of the events.

Given the numerous inconsistencies and lack of verifiable evidence, claims that Renee Nicole Good had a history of child abuse charges are unfounded and false.
