In a digital landscape rife with misinformation, claims surrounding a sensational video allegedly shared by French President Emmanuel Macron continue to spread across social media platforms despite having no basis in fact.

No evidence exists that Macron published or shared a video purporting to show Jeffrey Epstein kissing former First Lady Melania Trump. A thorough review of the French president’s official social media accounts on both X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram from April 8, 2026, revealed no such content.

The 15-second clip at the center of the controversy consists of a single still image that shows clear signs of digital manipulation. The image appears to be derived from authentic photos found in the Epstein files released by the Department of Justice, but with Melania Trump’s face digitally inserted.

Had the French president actually shared such explosive content involving the wife of a former U.S. president, it would have triggered immediate and widespread news coverage. However, searches across major news platforms revealed no reporting of such an incident, further confirming the claim’s falsity.

Melania Trump herself addressed the proliferation of such content in a statement released on April 9, saying: “Numerous fake images and statements about Epstein and me have been circulating on social media for years now. Be cautious about what you believe. These images and stories are completely false.”

Digital forensics support the conclusion that the image is manipulated. The earliest version of the doctored image traced by fact-checkers dates to February 5, 2026, when it appeared on Facebook with a label identifying the content as satire or parody.

The fake image contains what appears to be a Department of Justice serial number similar to those used to index Epstein-related materials. However, searches for this exact file number in DOJ databases yield no matches, further confirming its fabricated nature.

When examining authentic DOJ-released Epstein photos that bear some compositional similarities to the manipulated image, significant differences become apparent. The genuine photos do not show the woman’s face, do not feature Epstein wearing a ring, and depict his hands in positions that differ from the viral image.

Two independent AI detection tools further confirmed the likelihood of digital manipulation. Illuminarty assigned a 95.2% probability that the image contained AI-generated elements, while a similar tool called AI or Not concluded there was a 95% chance of artificial manipulation.

Close visual inspection of the image reveals telltale signs of poor digital editing, including a deformed hand where two of Epstein’s fingers appear to have merged—a common artifact in AI-generated or digitally altered imagery.

This false claim represents yet another example of how easily manipulated media can spread across social platforms, particularly when involving high-profile figures. The incident underscores the importance of verifying information through official channels and trusted news sources before accepting or sharing potentially misleading content.
