False Claims Circulate About “Anti-Woke” Fox Morning Show Featuring Celebrities
Social media has been flooded with fabricated news claiming that Fox News is launching “the first anti-woke morning show” with a rotating cast of unlikely celebrity hosts. The false information, which has appeared in nearly identical posts across Facebook, names diverse personalities including comedian Rob Schneider, Jerry Seinfeld, former Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, and current Cabinet member Pete Hegseth.
An investigation into these claims revealed no credible evidence supporting the alleged new programming. Fox News has made no such announcement, and none of the named celebrities have confirmed any involvement with such a venture. The stories appear to be part of a coordinated misinformation campaign.
One version of the fabricated story appeared on February 4, 2026, on a Facebook page called “Movie Moments” with the headline “THE WAR ON MORNING TV JUST EXPLODED.” The post claimed that Rob Schneider would host a show positioned as a “counterpunch to The View,” describing it as “the opening salvo in a full-blown cultural showdown.”
Media industry experts note several red flags that expose these stories as fake. The notion that Fox News could simultaneously launch multiple individual morning shows defies basic broadcasting logistics, as the morning slot only runs from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Additionally, the political incongruity of the alleged hosts raises immediate suspicion.
“The inclusion of Pete Buttigieg, an openly gay former Democratic Cabinet secretary, as the host of a conservative ‘anti-woke’ program on Fox News simply doesn’t align with either his personal brand or the network’s audience,” explains media analyst Rebecca Thomson. “Similarly, Pete Hegseth, as a sitting Cabinet member, would be prohibited from such outside employment under federal ethics rules.”
Digital verification checks further exposed the falsehood. Searches through Google News archives for any legitimate reporting about “Fox” and “first anti-woke morning show” in connection with any of the named celebrities returned no results. None of the named individuals have mentioned such a project on their verified social media accounts.
The fabricated stories follow a recognizable pattern of misinformation that has been identified as “Viet Spam” – false content often exported from Vietnam-based content farms. These operations create nearly identical stories, changing only the celebrity names, to generate engagement on social platforms.
A Facebook search for the phrase “first anti-woke morning show” revealed versions of the same basic story featuring not only Schneider, Seinfeld, Buttigieg, and country singer Emmy Lou Harris, but also other celebrities with widely varying political viewpoints and professional backgrounds.
The posts typically link to websites with dubious credibility and minimal transparency about their ownership. The “Movie Moments” Facebook page responsible for the Schneider version, for instance, provides no information about its administrators or their location – another common trait of coordinated misinformation campaigns.
Media literacy advocates recommend scrutinizing social media content making surprising claims about celebrities or major media personalities. Red flags include outlandish scenarios, politically inconsistent groupings, and identical stories with only celebrity names changed.
“These fabricated stories exploit people’s interest in celebrity news and political divisions to generate clicks and engagement,” says digital media expert James Carleton. “The inconsistencies are obvious to anyone who knows these personalities or understands how broadcast television works, but casual scrollers might miss these warning signs.”
Fox News continues to operate its actual morning programming without any announced plans for an “anti-woke” alternative featuring any of the named personalities.
