Disinformation targeting transgender individuals has been rapidly spreading across social media platforms in the aftermath of the Tumbler Ridge mass shooting, according to multiple fact-checking organizations and online safety experts.

The small community of Tumbler Ridge, home to approximately 2,000 residents, has been devastated by both the tragedy and the ensuing online spectacle.
