This week’s entertainment landscape offers a diverse array of new releases across television, film, music, and gaming platforms, highlighting both established stars and emerging talents.

Amanda Seyfried takes center stage in “The Testament of Ann Lee,” arriving on Hulu this Tuesday. The audacious musical, directed by Mona Fastvold, features Seyfried as Shakers founder Ann Lee in what critics describe as a singularly original cinematic experience. Despite not receiving an Oscar nomination, Seyfried’s performance has been hailed as transformative, with AP reviewer Jocelyn Noveck noting that while “the film is absolutely not for everyone,” it showcases “a fiercely talented actor in ways we might not have predicted.”

The horror genre sees a significant entry with “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” landing on Netflix Tuesday. Directed by Nia DaCosta from an Alex Garland script, the zombie film starring Jack O’Connell and Ralph Fiennes received strong critical acclaim. AP’s Mark Kennedy called it “absolutely bonkers—and a triumph,” praising its ability to both subvert and elevate the genre.

Meanwhile, Seyfried appears in another major release this week as “The Housemaid” makes its Starz debut on Wednesday. The Paul Feig-directed thriller, which also stars Sydney Sweeney, became an unexpected box office phenomenon, generating over $396 million against a modest $35 million budget. Kennedy described it as a “delicious, satirical look at the secret depravity of the ultra-rich” with unexpected narrative turns.

In the music world, Grammy-nominated country artist Charley Crockett releases “Age of the Ram,” co-produced by Shooter Jennings. The album represents the final installment of his “Sagebrush Trilogy” and continues to blend traditional country storytelling with innovative approaches. Singles “Fastest Gun Alive” and “Kentucky Too Long” showcase Crockett’s distinctive Old West vocal style.

Philadelphia-based punk band Poison Ruin offers “Hymn from the Hills” on Friday, promising their signature fusion of death rock and medieval themes with increased intensity. The same day, Swedish post-punk outfit Makthaverskan releases “Glass and Bones,” their first album since 2021’s “För Allting,” with early singles suggesting it could be among the year’s standout dream pop releases.

Television enthusiasts can look forward to Bravo’s reality series “The Valley” returning for its third season on Peacock this Thursday. The show continues to follow former “Vanderpump Rules” cast members who relocated to the San Fernando Valley, bringing their complex relationships and inevitable drama along. This season adds Lala Kent and Tom Schwartz as full-time cast members, while notably excluding Jax Taylor, ex-husband of returning cast member Brittany Cartwright.

Apple TV+ brings back Jon Hamm for the second season of “Your Friends & Neighbors” on Friday. The series features Hamm as a suburban dweller who maintains his affluent lifestyle by stealing from wealthy neighbors, with Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, and James Marsden rounding out the cast. That same day, Bravo expands its reality empire with “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island” premiering on Peacock.

Gaming enthusiasts can look forward to “Darwin’s Paradox!” releasing Thursday across PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, Switch 2, and PC platforms. The arcade-style adventure follows an octopus named Darwin who is mysteriously removed from his ocean home and thrown into a junkyard, only to discover a potential threat to humanity. The game comes from ZDT Studio, whose founders include the director of the acclaimed Dishonored series.

For theater fans, Netflix will stream the Broadway production of “Merrily We Roll Along” starring Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe beginning Saturday, bringing the stage experience to home viewers.

This week’s diverse entertainment offerings demonstrate the industry’s continued evolution across platforms, with streaming services increasingly becoming the primary destination for high-profile releases in film, television, music, and gaming.
