The Weeknd Joins Billion-Dollar Tour Club as ‘After Hours ‘Til Dawn’ Breaks Revenue Milestone

The Weeknd’s massive After Hours ‘Til Dawn Tour has officially crossed the $1 billion mark in gross revenue, Live Nation announced Thursday. The achievement places the artist among an elite group of performers who have reached this rare financial milestone.

The tour, which began in Philadelphia in July 2022 and is scheduled to continue until September 2026, has sold approximately 7.55 million tickets across 153 dates, according to data collected by the live entertainment company from March 2022 through November 2025.

“The Weeknd continues to redefine what it means to be a global touring artist,” said Omar Al-joulani, Live Nation’s president of touring. “Crossing the billion-dollar mark is a testament to his staying power and the incredible demand for his live show. Year after year, he sells out stadiums around the world.”

The extensive tour spans multiple continents, with performances across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Australia. The final show is scheduled for September 6, 2026, at Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon, Portugal, capping off what will be more than four years on the road.

For Abel Tesfaye, the artist known professionally as The Weeknd, the tour has not been without challenges. During a performance at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium in 2022, he experienced a sudden vocal failure that forced him to cancel the show shortly after it began. The incident became a pivotal moment in his career, later inspiring both an album and fictionalized film titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow.”

In a triumphant recovery, The Weeknd returned to SoFi Stadium this summer for a successful four-night run, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to his fan base.

“Very few artists reach this level of global touring success,” noted Darryl Eaton, head of global touring at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). “It’s truly rarefied air, and being part of the team supporting Abel’s ascent to this milestone is one of the proudest moments of my career.”

The billion-dollar tour is a relatively new phenomenon in the music industry. In 2023, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour became the first to cross this threshold, according to concert trade publication Pollstar. Swift’s tour initially brought in $1.04 billion with 4.35 million tickets sold across 60 dates, but later shattered her own record. By December 2024, the Eras Tour had generated an unprecedented $2.2 billion across its nearly two-year run, cementing its status as the highest-grossing tour of all time.

Coldplay has also joined this exclusive club. In September, Pollstar reported that the band’s “Music of the Spheres” tour, which ran from 2022 to 2025, accumulated $1.39 billion in gross revenue.

The Weeknd’s achievement reflects broader trends in the live music industry, where top-tier artists are increasingly able to command premium ticket prices and sustain interest across multi-year tour schedules. This shift has been accelerated by pent-up demand following the pandemic-induced shutdown of live events and fans’ willingness to spend more on experiences.

Industry analysts point to several factors contributing to The Weeknd’s touring success, including his crossover appeal across multiple genres, steady stream of hit singles, elaborate production values, and strategic global routing that targeted major markets across several continents.

As streaming continues to dominate music consumption, live performances have become increasingly critical to artists’ revenue streams. The Weeknd’s billion-dollar milestone underscores not only his personal commercial appeal but also the growing economic power of stadium tours as a cornerstone of the modern music business.
